7.Other Ways to Connect.
Connected from The Start Global Learning in the Primary Grades.
No matter what tool you want to use to connect and learn, there will always be one for your tastes and needs, we can list many but videos, wikis, documents and Google are some of the most used today. It seems to indicate that knowledge is now global and technology is our best ally in the search for it.

chapter 8: Open your classroom to the world
This
chapter is the perfect conclusion to the book because it gives you tips
and encourages you to start using technology to
connect with other teachers or other classrooms. What I like the most about the authors approach is
that she does not use technology just to include it in the classroom, she figured out how to use technology in a way that have sense and meaning not only for the class but
for the students.
The article below explains 6 benefits of using technology in the classroom, something to think about
5.Using Blogs as Digital Portfolios.
Connected from The Start Global Learning in the Primary Grades.
I like this teaching instrument because simple blogs can become sophisticated portfolios, just you need to record information and use images, apps, sounds, videos, posts, cameras and etc to stimulate the learning process. As a result, students from early ages enhance their technological skills where learning, discover and having fun are the most important factors rather than the final product.

4. How to Blog with Primary Students.
Connected from The Start Global Learning in the Primary Grades.
I am going to talk about an aspect of this chapter: Security.
Blogging with primary students has its pros and cons because, despite the fact that it improves their learning process and it is a handy tool for teachers and students, everybody knows how insecure the internet is for children. As teachers and parents, when children learn online we must follow safe polices to ensure that our students are protected and have appropriate use of internet inside and outside the classroom.

3. Why use blogs to connect.
Connected from The Start Global Learning in the Primary Grades.
Blogging has now become an important tool for connecting. It enables students and people, in general, to connect with the rest of without borders. The main feature of blogging is feedback, in my opinion, receiving comments on your post from the audience complements the learning process, expand your mind and creates a community of ideas, spaces, and thoughts.

chapter 7: Other ways to connect
Being a
teacher in the 21 century gives you infinite possibilities to work with your
students using technology. Is very important for this generations to learn how
to connect, it does not matter how you do it, they need to learn what to share,
how to share it, they have to learn different options to develop their ideas. Nowadays
you have social media, applications and websites to make it easier to connect
to the world, if we connect our classrooms and students learn from there how to
be on the internet we can have better online users.
This video shows the importance of
using technology with a purpose, it gives amazing ideas!
chapter 6: connecting with twitter.
I never
thought about using twitter in the classroom and I think is better than google.
You can ask questions to actual people, experts in the topic who can answer
your students questions and not only your students but your questions too! Is a
great way to introduce any topic, you can inquirer with your students and at the
same time teach them who to follow, how to write a question or comment and how
to manage a situation when somebody is being rude to you.
This video explains better why is a good idea to use social media in your classroom.
chapter 5: Using blogs as digital portfolios
Using a blog
as a portfolio for your students is such an amazing idea if you are working
with primary kids. I think if you teach your students about blogging and that
other people from all over the world are going to see their postings and work
they would try harder in class. I found fascinating the idea to post your
students work and receive comments, suggestions or feedback about what they are
doing. This not only helps the student but also gives us teachers a light about
our approach to certain topic; receiving feedback from other teachers could
help us plan better classes.
The following article can guide you if you
are interest on implementing a blog as a portfolio for your students.

Chapter 4: How to blog with primary students
Blogging with primary students is the
perfect opportunity not only to engage them with writing and
reading but also to promote cyber citizenship. It is very important to start
teaching students in short ages that the internet is another way of interacting
with HUMAN BEINGS, and that means that it does not matter if I do not know the
person in the other side of the computer I have to treat them with the same
respect that I would treat my classmates. If they apply the same ethics and
values they apply in “real life” then we are promoting a better and caring
world.
DQ Institute is promoting a digital
citizenship for children with their project, they are proposing the following digital
citizenship skills:

Chapter 3: why we use blogs to connect
I loved this chapter! it gives you such great ideas to work with your students. I teach pre -kinder kids and I always struggle to find ways to involve technology in my classes. I found myself showing them videos or recording their work inside the classroom. I think a blog or an interactive web page is a great idea for them to start practicing technology skills and to support other skills like reading and writing. When you have a blog you can share easily what your students are doing and you can involve other staff and parents in their work.
I found this video that talks about the importance of blogging with your students, for me, the most beautiful and important thing about blogging is that each student has his own voice and learns how to write being themselves sharing what is important for them.

Another way of using technology for learning is Skype, in my opinion through calls, conversations, chats, messages and videos primary and in general students learn about different topics, meet people and make themselves known by others in a fun way.
